Using a pre-packaged one-size-fits-all training plan from a book or online coaching service is fine to get you started. Any time you make the effort to train consistently in an organized fashion, you will most likely improve. BUT if you want to reach your FULL potential as an athlete, eventually you will need individual attention. You will benefit most from having a relationship with someone who can observe you, analyze data from your training device, and motivate you to do the hard work that is necessary in order to break through to the next level.
